I would first like to welcome anyone who has taken an interest in this project and I hope that you will find it educational and entertaining!
My name is Evan Creamer, and I became a Cub Scout as early as possible and stayed with the Boy Scouts through the rank of Eagle in 2014. I have a lot that I owe to the BSA and to the many people I’ve been able to meet and connect with through the program. I can say with confidence that the BSA and the path to Eagle has helped to make me into the man I am today, and I know this to be true for thousands of other young men who have earned the rank and walked the trail before (and after) me.
As a Mass Media student, I am called to tell stories and share the lessons that I have been taught in a continually growing medium. I decided that there would be no more fitting way to end my career at Valdosta State University than by giving back to the organization that has meant so much to me through the years.
My goal on the outset of this project is to produce a short documentary in which I plan to explore what goes into to earning the Eagle Scout rank and what it means to be one of the young men (and soon young women) who have earned it. Boy Scouts has existed for 110 years, and the Eagle Scout honor is a near-universally recognized commendation of someone’s character, work ethic, and ability to lead.
This documentary is my way of helping to tell the world why it is so important and just what it takes to be an Eagle Scout.
I will be posting updates to this blog as time goes on with pictures, possibly short clips, and other bits of information for anyone who wants to follow the project. So, look for updates weekly!
Yours in Scouting,
Evan Creamer
